The inaugural SOHO Egypt regional meeting was held November 5–6, 2025, in Cairo at the Intercontinental Cairo Citystars Hotel. The presidents of the meeting were Mohamed Abdel Mooti Samra, MD, dean of the National Cancer Institute at Cairo University, and Hagop Kantarjian, MD, professor in the Department of Leukemia at the University of MD Anderson Cancer Center.
The SOHO Egypt regional meeting was held in conjunction with the Annual Congress of the National Cancer Institute (BGO 2025). That meeting is held annually and covers cancers outside of blood cancers. Its 2025 theme was “Bridging Gaps in Oncology” and it overlapped SOHO Egypt by one day. (BGO 2025 was held November 5 to 7, 2025.)
Over the two-day period, SOHO Egypt covered such topics as nilotinib in chronic myeloid leukemia, chemotherapy-free management in chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and updates in diagnosing acute myeloid leukemia. The organizers said they hoped to extend the 2026 meeting from two days to three days.
