What are the barriers to research in the community oncology setting?

In this session from the SOHO Insider Community Oncology Brown Bag series, Luke Fletcher, MD, presents on an exploration of barriers and solutions for activating and sustaining research programs in nonacademic environments.

Dr. Fletcher is a hematologist-oncologist at Willamette Valley Cancer Institute & Research Center and chair of the Leukemia Research Executive Committee at Sarah Cannon Research Institute.

“Be a local expert and carve your own niche,” he said. “Champion your own research.”

He is currently a PI on approximately 13 trials in myeloid diseases.
