In this video interview filmed from the 66th American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting & Exhibition, Shan Liu, PhD, and Puneeth Guruprasad, PhD, MD, from the University of Pennsylvania, discuss how diet may be used to modulate the function of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy.
Dr. Liu presented the full study and the details of the ASH 2024 abstract titled, “Ketogenic diet enhances CAR T cell antitumor dunction Via β-hydroxybutyrate.”
In the abstract, they write “our results demonstrate that ketogenic diet-derived BHB can be provided as a dietary intervention to augment CAR-T function in multiple cancer models,” they wrote. “The key mechanism involves the enhancement of the citric acid cycle and histone modifications during CAR T cell activation.”
